Do you not know that in race, all the runners run, but only one gets the prize. Run in such a way as to get the prize -- 1 Corinthians 9:24
I want to start this blog to talk about the lessons I've learned while aiming for lasting success as well as what I continue to learn everyday as I run this race of life. Leadership, inspiration and determination are necessary components of success, and these are principles I will talk about a lot. I also hope to learn from your thoughts, experiences, and lessons learned as you run your race.
I have always wanted to succeed, to win. Although, I must admit that initially my desire to win was confined to the basketball court...and I did win there.
But it didn't take me long (my sophomore laid out on the floor of the practice gym at Penn State) to understand that my desire to win had better spill over into other areas of my life. My life at that time, other than being a varsity basketball player at Penn State University, was the classroom.
From that moment on I have nurtured a personal commitment to win at life. I have not always hit the mark but my commitment to the race has never weakened and it has never been stronger than it is today.
For certain, I am still a work in progress. I believe all of us are.
I also believe we can all win our race of life as long as we are running in such a way as to win.
The lessons, principles, and experiences that help fuel our race are what this weekly blog is about.
Coming next week: Managing yourself, before leading others.
